In the spaces below, you can find me chatting and writing about finding your FLOW, self-care, midlife motherhood, and creativity.
40 Things I’m Leaving Behind in My 40s
I can’t stop talking about turning 50.
My birthday is in early January, so the whole “NEW YEAR! NEW YOU!” vibe actually aligns for me.
Here’s the thing…I hate the phrase, “NEW YEAR! NEW YOU!”
FLOW-ing through Midlife Motherhood: Building Habits and Embracing Change
Midlife motherhood brings its own unique set of challenges, some I wasn’t all that prepared for if I’m being honest. When it comes to supporting my body, mind, and spirit, I’ve had to constantly reevaluate what works for me and what doesn’t.
How can we, as midlife mothers, create more harmony in the throes of change?
The Fear of Forgetting
I have a fear of forgetting.
With nearly 18 years of mothering under my belt, it’s no surprise, really. When you’re responsible for other humans, you have to remember things.
Lots of things.
All of the things.
Too.Many.Things.
So you make lists. You write on whiteboards, paper slips, and the back of a junk mail envelope. You add color stickers to your planner, you create a BRAIN DUMP page in your bullet journal, and you color-code your calendar like some kind of modern artist.
The Importance of Paying Attention
If you do only one thing today, let it be this...
Pay. Attention.
25 years ago, I read a book about highly sensitive people. The more I read, the more I nodded. The more I nodded, the more lightbulbs turned on in my head.
I’d always been called “sensitive” and “emotional” and oftentimes, not in a good way. Combined with my people-pleaser tendencies and desire to not disappoint anyone ever (except maybe myself), I was really good at paying attention to everyone else’s feelings, expressions, moods, etc.
Sustainable Self-Care: 30 Days of Walking + Words
I compiled all 30 days of walking words and mantras/journaling prompts into a document for you. You can come back to these again and again for encouragement and support on your walking/movement/journaling journey.
Creativity in My 40s: Medicine for My Soul
Lately, I’ve been having this daydream. I escape to the Isle of Skye off the west coast of Scotland. I take walks. I drink copious amounts of hot herbal tea. I write. I stare out at nothing. I take in everything. Creating in my 40s has been medicine for my soul.
